I found this on mes-english, just in time for the world cup.

http://www.mes-english.com/games/soccer.php

I draw a big pitch on the blackboard, divide it into 3 parts in each half and use a picture of the Jabulani (this year's World Cup) ball glued to a card, stuck to a magnet or two.

The students split into two lines (try to get a mix of boys and girls in each team).

The first student in each line must race to answer a question (I use simple picture cards, the winner is the one to say the English word first). The winner has their ball advance up the pitch. Those students go to the back of the line and the next two compete. Once the ball reaches the the end of the pitch, a goal is scored. It's fun to make a big deal on the penultimate line. "Chance!" Then, "GOAL" if they score, or "Nice Defence!" if the other team move the ball back.

The game can continue until whenever. I usually judge it by how much fun the students are having... are they bored? Or, have I run out of cards?

It's a really fun game. However, with classes of 40, the students at the back of the line can be hard to control. I'll leave that problem to you.
